Monitoring water consumption
This Excel graph shows how i kept an eye on our water usage before i had watermetes
installed and connected to my HA system:
Here's how it is done nowadays: Watermeters, some additional hard- and software,
a SQL database and some VB code makes it possible to view the water usage realtime.
Every time this page is viewed, these charts are created "on the fly".
In August 2007 i started monitoring water usage in our house. I bought 2 water meters:
one for hot water usage and one for the tot water usage. Some time went by before
i installed them, but once installed, displaying the water usage online was a matter
of minutes, because all other hardware needed (counter, 1-wire cable and so on)
was already in place for the gas usage. So it was just a matter of pugging the meter
in and off we go! You can
